Turning a Broken World Upside Down: Spiritual Practices for Leading Disciples
Early Christian disciples and leaders were characterized as people who were “turning the world upside down” (Acts 17:6). This interactive workshop will first challenge congregational leaders to identify some aspect of their own ministry and its wider community context that is “broken” and in need of God’s healing and reconciling power. Workshop presenters and participants will then examine several biblical passages that suggest particular actions for disrupting the status quo and preparing disciples to hear and consider new ways of doing more faithful and fruitful ministry. Finally, the workshop will invite participants into an imaginative practice seeking spiritual vision for discerning new actions for themselves and other disciples in response to the broken world around them.
